Q: David, how did Accessible Transportation get started?

David:
I’m a former firefighter/EMT, and I was doing a lot of late-night discharges. I took my tax return and bought a 15-passenger bus that didn’t require a CDL. I fixed it up and started doing private-pay calls. At the time, I was only doing about five or six rides a week, but since they were private pay, they were good money.

I was using a platform called Jobber, which I later realized was really designed more for plumbers or carpenters—not transportation providers. But when you’re small, you make do with what you have.

Q: What challenges did you face before using RoutingBox?

David:
We were juggling five or six different apps just to function. We had to build a lot of our own processes, and nothing really talked to each other. It was hard to track vehicles, manage schedules, and keep everything organized.

Jobber had a nice calendar view, but it just wasn’t built for transportation. We quickly outgrew it.


Q: What kind of impact has RoutingBox had on your day-to-day operations?

David:
Honestly—everything. I live in the app. I’m constantly toggling between dispatch and assignments so I can see what’s happening today and what’s coming tomorrow.

The biggest impact is time savings. We use Modivcare, and the integration with RoutingBox is seamless. When a trip appears in the Modivcare marketplace, I just click “accept,” and it automatically pulls into RoutingBox with all the details—name, address, pay rates, everything.

What used to take several minutes per trip now takes less than five minutes total. That adds up fast.


Q: How does that time savings affect your business growth?

David:
Minutes lost are dollars lost in this industry. RoutingBox keeps me focused and efficient. If I see downtime or idling vehicles, I know I can jump into the marketplace and pick up extra trips.

There’s a real checks-and-balances system between RoutingBox and the broker platforms. I don’t have to step outside the software to grow my business—it’s all there.


Q: How important is customer support to you?

David:
It’s huge. Justin from RoutingBox has been a lifesaver for us. He knows our account, knows our business, and when something goes wrong, he’s our first call.

We recently dealt with an integration issue on the broker side—not RoutingBox—and Justin helped us recover schedules, pickup times, and addresses so we could keep running. Even when we were briefly offline, we didn’t miss trips.

I’ve never seen an issue last more than an hour.


Q: Are there any RoutingBox features you’re especially excited about?

David:

We really like the reporting tools. The dashboards and charts show us where we’re doing well and where there’s room to improve. That kind of insight is critical when you’re running a growing operation.


Q: Can you share a specific moment when RoutingBox really came through for you?

David:
We had a system update that caused some temporary issues, and we had to rely on Justin to recover trip information. Even though we were offline for about an hour, we were able to get the necessary details, complete the trip, and upload everything afterward without losing data.

That reliability matters. In transportation, you can’t afford downtime.


Q: Any final thoughts on your experience with RoutingBox?

David:
