FAQ

Q: Is RoutingBox compliant with the new GPS requirements for New York State Medicaid trips?

A: Yes, RoutingBox is compliant with the new GPS requirements and we are on the official approved vendor lists for both dispatching software and billing software.

Q: When will this capability be rolled out?

A: We have been working closely with MAS and ModivCare for many months to ensure a seamless rollout. Although the mandate is in April, we have already begun to enable this capability for current customers.

Q: Do I still need to attest to my trips in RoutingBox or on the broker’s portal?

A: Yes.

Q: How does it work and what does RoutingBox track?

A: Your drivers use a mobile device (Android or iOS) that has the RoutingBox software installed on it. As drivers interact with their real-time trip manifest in the mobile app, the position of the device is transmitted and stored in your RoutingBox system, which is then sent in real-time to your NYS Broker (MAS or ModivCare).

Positions are captured and sent every 30 seconds as well as during key events such as trip status updates and electronic signature captures.

NOTE: The position of your vehicles is only sent to your broker (MAS or ModivCare) when you are performing a NYS Medicaid trip.

Q: What occurs if my mobile device loses signal while I’m performing trips?

A: Continue to use our app on your device. RoutingBox software has a built-in offline mode feature. It will continue to capture this pertinent GPS information and when you device comes back online, this information will be transmitted.

Q: I already have RoutingBox, do I need to do anything differently with the software?

A: Nothing is needed to do on your end to enable the feature. You do not need to do anything differently if your drivers are already using our mobile app. If you have some drivers operating off of paper, they must switch to using a phone or tablet with RoutingBox installed on it. See our system requirements for mobile devices: link.

Q: What is required for each of my drivers?

A: We recommend that you monitor the dispatch screen to ensure your drivers are updating trip statuses as they occur to ensure the right timestamps are put on your trips. Updating trip status in real-time is needed for this requirement and attestation. Here are articles that show you how to setup your dispatch screen to do so: What is a Trip Status? & Monitoring Driver Performance
